SlumberPod Donates to Wild Heart Mamas for LA Fires: Get To Know Them!

When the LA wildfires broke out, SlumberPod instantly realized the amount of families who would be misplaced and forced to room share against their will. And as we all know, room sharing with little ones is HARD - especially for extended periods of time. It became our mission to find as many ways as possible to get SlumberPod's out to families in need in California. So when Needah, founder of Wild Heart Mamas, reached out to us and shared how she was supporting families in California, it was a no brainer that we needed to send her palettes of SlumberPod's to gift to families during her efforts.

What Needah is doing with Wild Heart Mamas is truly inspiring. So we thought we would sit down with her for a little Q&A and introduce her to our amazing SlumberSquad.

Q: What is Wild Heart Mamas?
A:
Wild Heart Mamas started as a community for moms and women who are navigating the wild, beautiful (and sometimes chaotic) journey of motherhood. It’s a space where we support each other, share real moments, and build meaningful connections. Over time, it has grown into something much bigger. For me, it has become an opportunity to not just uplift moms, but also give back to our greater community in real, tangible ways.

Q: How & why did you get started with Wild Heart Mamas?
A:
Motherhood can be isolating, and I wanted to create something that made moms feel seen, understood, and supported. It started with small gatherings, coffee meetups, and playdates. Then from there, it became a movement of connection. I also realized how powerful a group of moms can be when we come together - not just for each other, but to help those in need. That’s where the heart of Wild Heart Mamas really lies: in community, in action, and in love.

Q: How did you get started organizing this donation effort for the California wildfires
A:
When the fires started devastating communities, I couldn’t just sit back and watch. Families just like mine, just like the ones in our Wild Heart Mamas community, were losing everything. I knew that if I put out the call, our network of moms and local businesses would show up. And they did. It started with one post asking for donations, and within hours, people were dropping off essentials to neighbors and friends in Pasadena. offering resources, and asking how they could help. That’s the power of community.

Q: What have you been able to donate to families affected by the devastating wildfires in California?
A:
With the help of so many generous people, we’ve been able to donate essential supplies like diapers, formula, clothing, blankets, and hygiene kits within the community. We’ve also worked to help first responders working around the clock. Sometimes, even small comforts can make a difference when someone is going through a crisis.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of helping families affected by the fires?
A:
Honestly, it’s seeing the kindness of strangers. When a mom who has lost everything hugs you with tears in her eyes because she didn’t know how she was going to get diapers for her baby and now she has them, that’s everything to me. It reminds me why we do this. It’s also been incredible to see my own kids witness the power of community.

Q: What are some of the organizations/businesses that have helped support your efforts?
A: We’ve been so lucky to have the support of local businesses, coffee shops, and small brands that have stepped up without hesitation - including SlumberPod! From local markets donating food to boutiques offering clothing and schools organizing their own mini-drives, it’s been a collective effort.

Q: Are there ways people can help or volunteer their time to help, even if they don’t live nearby?
A: Absolutely! Even if you're not local, you can still help. Gift cards (Target, Walmart, Visa) are a great way to give directly to families in need. Sharing our donation drives and efforts on social media helps spread the word, too. Sometimes, just sending a message of support to someone who lost everything can make a huge impact. We may not be able to stop the fires, but we can make sure no family faces the aftermath alone.

Be sure to follow @wildheartmamas on social media to see everything they are doing, and to be part of their amazing community!
